The Tango scene in Cairns is still very new - but
growing fast. There are already several informal,
fun and social practicing opportunities - see above
- every week!
There are no Tango orchestra's here yet but several
fun Tango-ish and other beautiful danceable live music
events. That way we can dance and practice nearly
everyday! Contact Klaus if you are a visiting dancer
and keen do dance.
We may also be able to arrange a lift for visiting
interstate or overseas dancers to our dance venues
on request.
There are also plans for a national Tango festival
in Cairns with a live band from Sydney - as well as
visting teachers coming and performing- stay tuned!
Special Events
We are looking forward to the Argentine Tango weekend
17th & 18th of May 2008 in the Cairns RSL!
This is a great possibliity to learn Tango with visiting
Argentine Master Hugo Fernandez and his partner. All
classes are designed to accomodate beginners
but also offer more experienced dancers new insights
into beautiful authentic Tango moves.
Both the visiting and local teachers will be performing
on the night to demonstrate the wide range of different
styles of Tango - from traditional to electronic &
modern/neo Tango!
We will also have a Salsa/Rueda demonstration as
well as a raffle with Tango and Salsa classes to win!
As this dance night is exceptionally low priced ($5
or free for workshop participants) despite the extra
entertainment provided this is great opportunity for
friends/family of Tango dancers or other interested
people to socialise and watch real Argentine Tango
in Cairns!
Regular beginners courses
will be starting the week after this event for those
who like to explore Tango to become confident social
dancers.
